How a corporate is usually structured

The standard corporate chart puts a CEO over a C-suite, each running a function: finance, operations, technology, marketing and people. Use this as a board-level overview; each executive can have their own detailed chart beneath it.

Chart the top two or three levels only

For companies of hundreds or thousands, a single chart becomes unreadable. Make one executive overview and one chart per department.

Where the board sits

The board of directors oversees the CEO but is not part of the management line. Many companies put it above the CEO with a note, or leave it off the operating chart.
